Astrology update – Retrograde Season with 5 planets!!
Today we are talking about 5 planets being in retrograde, Pluto, Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn and today, Chiron. Wow, that’s a lot of areas of our lives the planets in retrograde will cover and change for us if we choose to assist them by doing our part.
According to astrology, when the sky is out of whack, life here on Earth can be too, that’s why we have retrograding planets. Retrograde periods are thought to be times of confusion, disorder, and backtracking. But they’re not all bad, please read on.
- Retrogrades turn our attention to the past and can actually be cosmic ‘grace periods’ when we can finish all the things we’ve started or strengthen our plans, ensuring that we don’t move forward on a shaky foundation,”
- Retrogrades are catalysts for positive transformation and radiate waves of cosmic energy that shake and alter our lives, giving us the opportunity to wipe the karmic slate clean and turn our lives around for the better.
- Retrogrades give us the opportunity to see without illusions, so that we avoid repeatedly making the same mistakes in the future as we did in the past by returning to whatever (or whoever) causes turmoil or emotional harm, and where there weren’t genuine or loving intentions.
- Retrogrades give us another chance at getting on track or further along the track. They are here to force us to ‘go over old ground’ to clear and sort out our lives in the areas that each planet represents when it retrogrades. What and who doesn’t serve your highest good, start there and keep sifting, sorting, clearing to make room for something better to fill it or ready to accept and receive in the future.
- If you don’t do the work, the universe, the Divine will do it for us, and it won’t be pretty. Maybe you are in a relationship or career which is not serving you, they don’t deserve you and you don’t want to leave, you could end up losing the job or the person leaves you? Most people are devastated but in a couple of months realize it was the best thing. Something has to close in order for another door to open.
- If you work with the Divine and at each retrograde as it turns up in whatever area of life it is, then you will be rewarded when the planet goes direct. When you read about each planet, you will realize what has been happening behind the scenes of your life, some good and some not so good.
Pluto Retrograde 2021 – 27th April – 6th October
With Pluto in retrograde, we are given an opportunity to dive below the surface and better acquaint ourselves with this psychic, subconscious material. Pluto is a brutal master. He is un-rivalled in his ability to break down structured existence, which is what most people mean to say when they invoke that holiest of terms, ‘transformation.’ If Planet Uranus breaks and Planet Neptune dissolves, Planet Pluto destroys; he is an atomic bomb to Neptune’s mists and Uranus’ lightning bolts.
Pluto’s less than savoury associations are many, covering everything from society’s underbelly to death, abuse, control, meaningless loss, and the resulting existential crises. Pluto transits, including Pluto’s retrograde transits, can deliver us to and from the brink of our subconscious, suspending us above the chasms of our deepest, darkest selves. Most of us have areas within us where this dark stuff churns and bubbles, that inner compost pile where we send the unpretty thoughts to lie still and be quiet. But they don’t!
Saturn Retrograde 2021 – 23 May – 10 October
Saturn is the great malefic. Known for its serious, cold, and sometimes harsh influence, it is the planet that rules time, karma, responsibility, and wisdom. As the traditional ruler of Capricorn and Aquarius, Saturn is the master architect of the zodiac by representing the way we respond to authority, status, and discipline in our lives.
Saturn’s boundaries and limiting powers are enhanced—often bringing outdated lessons and reality checks. When the Lord of Karma retrogrades, karmic debts are sorted out by blending the past with the present and the future. But not all is negative. As a fair and wise teacher, Saturn retrograde will bring rewards our way—especially if real efforts were made during the time, it was direct.
Saturn naturally rules boundaries, limits, responsibilities, discipline, and authority. During any Saturn retrograde transit, we may revisit or review those topics associated with Saturn or feel as if we are given a momentary reprieve from the typical effects of Saturn transits, which may include pressure and a sensation of burden, fear, or frustration.
Similar to all retrograde transits, Saturn’s retrograde periods are excellent for reviewing what we have learned thus far from Saturn’s transits with a view to continuous improvement. Saturn retrograde periods are also ideal for revisiting form or structure and understanding how something may best be built to stand the test of time.
Jupiter Retrograde 2021 – 20th June – 17/18th Oct
Jupiter is known as the great beneficiary. Named after the king of the Gods, Jupiter’s influence is, indeed, godlike. It bestows knowledge, abundance, good fortune, prosperity, joy, luck, and wisdom. It imbues virtues of kindness, compassion, generosity, temperance, perspective, and objectivity.
Jupiter represents the guru or teacher; he is a seeker of pursuits that expand the consciousness, he represents the higher mind and draws one beyond known boundaries—whether literally or metaphorically—and into an exploration of the unknown, which requires a leap of faith.
The danger here is excess. It’s important to know when you’ve had too much of a good thing. Jupiter’s influence expands and magnifies what is present—for better or for worse—so that it cannot be ignored.
It marks a period of profound inner growth and is a chance to reconnect and realign with one’s inner compass, indivisible inner truth, and greater, expansive consciousness—the source within. As one regains perspective and sees things in a new light, there is a discovery of previously missed blessings and greater potential. There could even be a realization of one’s good fortune, even in a situation that previously seemed greater than the individual’s capacity to handle it.
Neptune Retrograde 2021 – 25th June – 1st Dec
Neptune is a planet of feminine energy, she symbolizes what’s ideal, noble, transcendent, nebulous, and spiritual in our lives. She is how we experience a sense of unity and sympathy with the world. However, she also represents how we encounter illusion, delusion, addiction, and loss.
There is much more to Neptune, however, and not all of it is so rosy. In the foggy realms of Neptune, boundaries tend to disappear altogether, leaving us open to deception and delusions. While part of Neptune’s tendency is admirable, in so much it generates a well-intentioned desire to serve without reward, the danger with planet Neptune is to dissolve entirely into the ‘other,’ sacrificing our ego-identity as we search for salvation, becoming the people pleaser and peacemaker.
If planet Uranus seeks what’s new while planet Pluto seeks what lies beneath, then planet Neptune seeks the ideal. This aspect can describe an area of life where we seek to be redeemed from the disappointing reality of human existence. This process is usually unconscious—by throwing ourselves into work or relationships past all points of separation, we may be seeking much more than a happy marriage or a pay raise.
Somewhere deep down, we may believe that this area of life will lead us to deliverance and that by sublimating our personal, ego-based needs to the greater good, we will somehow manage to atone for our sins and be welcomed back into Eden.
Neptune has been called the Greatest Malefic, perhaps because we do not see her coming until she is there. Being the Master of Illusion means working in mysterious ways. When direct, Neptune will put a veil on our eyes, helping us hide anxieties and unwanted realities. Once it is retrograde, Neptune loses its powers, and this illusion is slowly but surely stripped away; sometimes leaving us face-to-face with a harsh and painful reality. The rose-coloured filters are gone, and we must face reality.
Chiron Retrograde 2021 – July 15 to Dec 19
Chiron represents your deepest fears and vulnerabilities. It can be thought of as a chronic pain that you spend your whole life learning how to overcome. In Greek mythology, Chiron was a centaur who taught great heroes such as Achilles and Peleus. He was famed for his healing powers, but he also ironically could not heal himself. That is why Chiron is often referred to as the “wounded healer,” because he represents your deepest wound and your lifelong attempts to heal that wound.
However, there’s a catch to the inherent suffering that is associated with Chiron, because while Chiron signifies your innermost grief, this asteroid also represents some of your most special abilities — your healing abilities. After all, it’s once you’ve lived through an agonizing experience that you understand how to help others when they’re having the same experience. It’s once you understand how something feels that you can more deeply empathize with that same feeling in someone else.
When it comes to Chiron, you are both the patient and the doctor. When Chiron stations retrograde, it can bring some of your wounds to the surface. When a planet is retrograde, its influence and energy is often inverted, making its impact more subdued and introspective. However, Chiron is already a planet that’s concerned with more sensitive and subconscious topics, which means that Chiron retrograde could be a time of deep therapy and healing. Some of your repressed emotions may rise to the surface, forcing you to finally feel your sadness and become honest about what you’re really feeling. In other words, Chiron retrograde is a time to let out a good cry.
Chiron will station retrograde in Aries on July 15. Aries is the zodiac of identity, confidence, competition, and passion. During this time, you may tackle the ways that you aren’t sticking up for yourself and defending your right to be whoever you want to be. With Chiron retrograding through this ego-centric zodiac sign, you may feel called to tackle the fears and experiences that have inhibited your ability to assert yourself and fight for yourself.
Those who were born with placements under cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) will feel this retrograde more intensely. However, every single zodiac sign may notice a subtle encouragement to embrace the truth within their hearts.
Let me know how the Retrogrades are affecting you, I would love to know.
